This short brochure from EISA explains the essentials of Integrated Farming. It describes the approach, the key factors for different types of integrated production and for the environment, it also describes what the approach can deliver to both producers and consumers.
Findings & recommendations
- Integrated Farming is based on a holistic (whole farm) approach, on science-based management and on the optimal blend of experience and innovation in a continuous pattern of “planning, evaluation, and improved management’.
- The importance of soil management, crop nutrition and crop protection for integrated arable production is explained, with particular emphasis on integrated pest management.
- The brochure covers the key elements of integrated animal husbandry, health and welfare.
- The key factors of environmental management are also outlined including water use and protection, climate change and air quality, energy efficiency, and landscape and nature conservation.
