Agricology are Recruiting an Events and Communications Assistant

Agricology is looking for a creative and motivated Events and Communications Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis. Agricology is a knowledge sharing network that brings together research and practice on agroecology in the UK. We share knowledge online via our website and social media channels and in the field at agricultural events and Agricology Field Days.  We are a small team with large ambitions.

We are looking for an individual to support with events, content development and social media as well as other ad-hoc duties to support the delivery of the project. This summer we are running a series of on farm field days and have a presence at two major events (Groundswell and Cereals) all of which will be delivered with partner organisations.

Agricology Project Manager

Person specification:

  • Event management experience.
  • An interest in and understanding of sustainable/agro-ecological farming.
  • Ability to synthesise information for a farming audience.
  • Experience using digital platforms (CMS and social media).
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Good communicator.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Proactive attitude.

The main duties are to contribute to supporting the delivering of on farm and agricultural events and digital communications for the Agricology project. Procedures will be agreed with and supervised by the Agricology Project Manager.  All duties will be carried out in collaboration with the Content Editor, Knowledge Exchange Manager and the Agricology Executive Board.


Support the Project Manager and Knowledge Exchange Manager with Agricultural Events and Agricology Field Days

Support event logistics and administration including: managing the events calendar, event planning, logistics, managing ticket sales, organising event caterers, coordinating onsite health and safety visits, liaising with partners to deliver collaborative events.

Managing event set up: setting up stands on farms and at venues, coordinating promotional materials including marketing leaflets, registration documents, resources and branded assets.

Representing Agricology at events; disseminating knowledge to people about Agricology’s mission and vision, encouraging participants to subscribe to the newsletter, conducting feedback through surveys and assisting with set up and break down of event space.

Website Administration

Uploading relevant events and news articles from partner organisations and Agricology to the website.

Uploading copy and images to website content management system and photo library.

E-Newsletter / Database

Managing the build, testing and dispatch of the Agricology monthly e-newsletter

Uploading subscribers to the Agricology database ensuring

Audio / Visual Content Development

Photograph, edit and upload images to google photos and flickr account when required (check that all photos have appropriate titles, credits, licenses; review albums and account settings etc.). 

Film and edit footage if required for the Agricology YouTube channel

Digital Communications

Support the Project Manager to develop promotional materials including posters, postcards

Support the Project Manager to analyse data from social media platforms


Assist Project Manager and Executive Board / Steering Group with administrative tasks as required (meeting organisation, sending event invitations etc.
