Sarah Chesshyre

Apprentice Planner

I am a volunteer copywriter for Agricology, and come to sustainable agriculture not as a grower but as a consumer. Sustainable food production matters to me because, as a cook, I recognise the importance of eating well and the pleasure food shared can bring, but also recognise the role food producers have to play as stewards of the land.

I’m currently training to be a Town Planner on an apprenticeship with Oxford City Council, and taking an MSc in Spatial Planning alongside this at Oxford Brookes. I’m particularly interested in exploring the potential of urban food growing, and work part time with Incredible Edible Oxford. I also volunteer with an urban fruit harvesting and food surplus distribution charity in Oxford called Abundance. I’m a keen cyclist and photographer and an aspiring writer.
