Alex Bebbington

Growing up in a rural community, I have always had an appreciation of agriculture and the vital work it does to provide our food and care for the environment.

When studying at the University of Exeter for a BSc Geography degree, I became aware of the disconnect between science and the people who can make use of it. I believe that there needs to be a greater effort to communicate science to people who can then implement it and make a difference.

This led me to volunteer as a copywriter for Agricology. This provides a fantastic opportunity to convert scientific documents into easy-to-read summaries for farmers, gardeners and land managers. Providing this information is a crucial part of encouraging more sustainable agriculture for both the environment and people, and I am proud to play a part in this.

I am passionate about the agricultural industry and hope that I will be able to play a role in it, creating an environment in which nature, people and businesses can thrive.

Away from my studies a small, mixed-breed flock of sheep keep me busy. I also enjoy spending time at the coast walking, swimming and kayaking.
