I have been growing organically for over 30 years. However, most of my professional experience has been related to museums and environmental issues. I was head of Media relations at the National Gallery and at the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. But for the past 10 years I managed projects at Earthwatch, looking at climate change effects in forests and freshwater issues around the globe.
My role at Garden Organic is to create and maintain the online reference resource for organic growing, hosted on the Garden Organic website. This is a new project that makes the most of the expertise and extensive research held within the organisation, from its early days as HDRA (the Henry Doubleday Research Association) through to the present. It is a reference library for all organic gardeners and growers; from those new to growing, or wish to convert to organic practices, to the experienced and lifelong followers of the organic way.
Whether working with museum curators, environmentalists or gardeners, my passion is to conserve for future generations. It is so important to be mindful of our resources and to enjoy the beauty and diversity of the natural world. I have a (very) small holding with sheep (so tame you can enjoy a woolly hug), hens you can talk to, vegetables, flowers and a newly-created orchard. Life is good.
